Although summer according to the calendar, is technically over, the weather is heating up and a large boating event is ready to set sail this fall. Strictly Sail Long Beach (formerly the Long Beach Boat & Yacht Show) will debut at Shoreline Village in Rainbow Harbor (401 Shoreline Village Drive, Long Beach) Thursday, October 18 through Sunday, October 21 and it promises to make a big splash.
This four-day event features more than 60 sailboats of all shapes and sizes, hundreds of sailing accessories and the largest series of educational seminars in the region sure to attract the most experienced of sailors to the novice.
“This hands-on event is great for the entire family,” said Dave Geoffrey, Show Manager. “Among many attractions, it features a dry-land Sailing Simulator. It helps to educate individuals to the real-world, real-life sensations of boating without getting in the water. It helps to prepare them for the real experience.”
There are a variety of attractions from shopping and educational activities to climbing aboard entry-level and luxury sailboats, catamarans and personal watercrafts.
Bring a wetsuit or bathing suit and a towel to the “Try It Cove” where guests can choose from the latest fitness and watersports craze, Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) or try the popular kayaking or sail a small boat.
Mix and mingle on the Cruisers’ Outpost Bash Saturday, October 20 and meet fellow sailing enthusiasts and enjoy live entertainment, drinks and food.
Admission to Strictly Sail is $10 for adults; youth 15 and younger accompanied by an adult; and active military with ID are free. Take advantage of a two-day pass for $15. Auto club members receive $2 discount on weekday admission.
